Bari
Hello Everyone!
The very
first place in Apulia, that I visited, was a very small city called
Alberobello, what means “a beautiful tree”. It is a very old village mostly
inhabited by local families with amazing architecture. Almost every building in
the city is shaped like a cone made of raw limestone, with dark, spiky roof.
These buildings are called Trulli.
The history
of the city reaches to 17th century. It was a small village whose
lord decided to force his people to build a temporary, raw houses, to avoid
taxation, that was charged for every family living in brick houses. This weird
tradition lasted to this day.
The most
beautiful thing in Apulia is of course its shoreline with amazing beaches.
Thanks to the soil rich in limestone and sandstone, the water formed a lot of
very impressive cliffs and natural constructions. One of the most surprising is
Grotta della Poesia.
It is a
massive cave in the middle of the land, close to the shore. It was formed by
water running under the rocks, flushing more and more sand under it, collapsing
the cave in the end. It is very popular tourist attraction, mostly visited by
fans of head jumping.
Another
amazing and wonderful natural creation are the massive cliffs and tunnels of Torre
Sant’Andrea.
Bye Bye!
