Norse mythology
Hello Everyone!
Today we are taking a break with the topic about travels.
I will tell you about one of my less known hobbies that concerns various mythologies. Already in primary school, one of my favorite books was Greek mythology. I know most of the myths by heart, I read Parandowski's mythology five times. However, Greek mythology is one of the better known, so today I will tell you about another, namely Norse mythology.
Norse mythology - is a colloquial term for the beliefs of former German-speaking peoples living in today's areas: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
An important place in Norse mythology was played by the cosmogonic tree containing nine worlds forming three layers of the outlook of ancient Germany - Heaven, Earth and Niflheim (The World of the Dead, equivalent to Christian Hell). The headquarters of the Germanic Gods was the city of Asgard in Heaven.
The center of Nordic pagan worship was the temple in Uppsala in today's Sweden, where the three most important gods were worshiped - Odin, Thor and Frejra. Every nine years, this temple held pagan rites of the so-called blodfest, during which sacrifices of people and animals were offered, for the atonement of deities.
Bye Bye!
